Featured Pokemon

Giratina is one of the most used pokemon in VGC 2010, aside from the obvious Kyogre and Palkia. It is incredibly bulky, with base 150 HP and base 120 defenses. Being a Ghost type, it is immune to Normal typed moves, expecially Explosion. That's why Giratina can be used to great success in the back of your team, for switching it into an Explosion. Giratina also works well as a lead, mainly with Choice Scarf. Having a 'mediocre' base 90 Speed, equipping a Choice Scarf makes it fast and, with Shadow Force, powerful. One weakness is that Giratina is weak to Ice and Dragon, arguably the most popular attacking types in VGC 2010. Yache and Haban, respectively, help aid in the solution for that problem. Officially confirming what we knew since the Japanese rules were announced, the rules for VGC in USA and Europe were confirmed on the official site. Found here. Auto leveling will be in play. Notice that the page says "Returning participants will notice that most of the rules and guidelines are the same as last year, but we've been working hard to make exciting changes that will make the 2010 Pokémon Video Game Championships better than ever! These changes include...." So, the rules from 2009 are still intact, but then these are added on top of them. So species clause, item clause, etc are still part of the rules. It mentions a date of March 26, so in that vicinity is most likely when the dates for the qualifier stops will be announced! Stay tuned.
